This is a piece I've been meaning to work from as inspiration for another painting.  Well, since uploading this challenge on the 14th I've started and almost completed six Original Wearable Art pieces and two complimentary 6 X 6 paintings.  I hope to have them completed by this weekend!

New Corvallis Art Gallery Featuring Willamette Valley Artists

The Dana Marie Art Gallery is a new art gallery in downtown Corvallis in the historic Madison Plaza at

425 SW Madison which is currently displaying the works of Willamette Valley artists. The gallery features contemporary fine art, artisan jewelry, and original wearable art.

The gallery will be hosting an opening for the public on Saturday, March 27 from 6-9 pm. The opening will feature the art work of Dana Marie, Pam Van Londen, Carolee S. Clark, Donna Beverly, JoAnn Chartier, Christopher Wilhelm, Janus Wilhelm, Karen Olwen, and Marnie Ernst. Wine and cheese will be provided and artists who display their works in the gallery will be in attendance.

The Dana Marie Art Gallery is family-owned and operated by Dana Marie and Dr. Emil Slatick. Dana Marie is an artist new to the Corvallis area who creates contemporary “whimsical” art that is inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us. Her husband, Emil, is a Clinical Psychologist with a practice in Newport Oregon; and now in Corvallis as well. This couple's love for the arts inspired them to open a gallery through which talented artists can share their vision. Dana and Emil strive to create warm and inviting space for art to be displayed with a simple elegance that is meant to appeal to visitors and patrons alike.

This photograph was taken of a portion of my 11 year old son's garden that he planted. This part of his garden was a bag of seeds called "Fairy Garden". It has bloomed just beautifully and each day there is new flowers to view. :) He's enjoyed his first real gardening experience immensely!

I know this is sort of an "odd" composition and layout, however, there is something very intriqueing about it, to me, as well.

Even though you can always go back and post on any of the weekly challenges, I'd love to see more "current" entries...myself included ;) ....and perhaps giving us 2 weeks will give us more time to post our creations. This is the photograph I have posted for this weeks' inspiration picture of the week over at "Inspiration All Around Us"

This was not my first pick, though, I do love this photograph. I took it last year of this humming bird attracking beauty hanging on my porch at our old house in Lincoln City, Oregon. This weeks photo was to be one or both of my lighted lawn deers in the snow, however, the photographs did not turn out as I'd hoped. I will try again and I may end up posting two pictures for this week. However, if that does not happen, hope you enjoy this one.

"Inspiration All Around Us"

I have created a new blog, "Inspiration All Around Us"! I was inspired by Karin Jurick's blog, "Different Strokes by Different Folks". I came across her blog a week or so ago and I absolutely love to view the paintings posted by all the different artists...what a beautiful idea! A great idea that spurred the idea for my newest blog.
